We are saddened to announce the unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father and Poppa on October 19th, 2022. A proud born and raised Victorian, Glenn was the youngest of six siblings born to Maude and James Smith.
Glenn leaves behind a devastated family; beloved wife of 56 years Carol (nee Harlos), daughters Tracey, Julie and Lori, sons-in-law Mason, Garry and Cem. As well as the twinkle in his eye, grandchildren Spencer, Mackenzie, Taylan, Emre and Isabella to whom he was a very proud Poppa. Father figure and mentor to many – friend to all.
Glenn was always in the trucking industry starting at Bray’s when he was still in high school. He worked for many companies as a General Manager including Grassick Transport, I-5 Freight, Pacific Coast Express and Canamera Transport from which he retired three times! He loved the industry and loved working with Doug Bradshaw.
He grew up hunting and fishing all over Vancouver Island with his brothers, from a young age, and then in the later years with his nephews Guy, Wayne and Ian. Camping was always a big part of Carol and Glenn’s life, from the beginning of their marriage to Labour Day 2022 and everything in between with friends and family. As the family grew so did the size of the group! The grandkids loved camping with Amma and Poppa. There are so many memories of our times at The Esquimalt Lagoon, Parksville, Weirs Beach, Crofton and our life-long family favorite, Ralph. They were privileged to have travelled to many beautiful places by land, air and sea with their friends and family meeting many wonderful people along the way.
Glenn was an avid sportsman, playing and coaching baseball in his youth. He loved hockey (Go Canucks Go!), baseball (Yay Blue Jays!) and football (Go Hawks!). As long-time season ticket holders, Glenn and Toby were truly the 12th man. Whether it was visiting, travelling, playing bridge or bowling, he loved spending time with good friends Jackie and Ray, Joan and Toby, Grant and Judy and Don and Linda.
Glenn could fix anything and if he couldn’t he would MacGyver it. He was always on the go with his many projects. He was an avid reader, loved crosswords, doing puzzles, playing games but he was happiest just being with his family.
He lead such a long and full life, it is hard to put into words the amount of memories and experiences he shared with the many people he loved. He was a remarkable human, kind hearted with steady strength.
He will be forever loved and greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at 2:00 pm at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive.

I hope you are getting a bit better.. I assume that it will take time.. the best thing is to accept the situation and start to look forward a bit, I think..
That is it.. it happened.. this is a destiny.. we can not change.. we can not live in the past permanently, we have to look forward ahead.. you have to do many things so you should be much stronger..Do not think to much, please.. it is not good for your health..
İt is not easy of course.. but you should try and push yourself, as much as you can..I and my mother walked in that path before.. I know very well how hard it is.. this is life..
Everything is temporary in this life.. sorrow and happiness.. life itself is temporary..
So, it is better to start as early as a new life style..
you have the most valuable fortune: your gorgeous family, three wonderful daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, sons in law..
You are loved very very much..Of course, nothing can be the consolation of absence of Glenn.. but your family will be the best relief and medicine for you in time..
You have had very good life with Glenn and with your family.. You enjoyed and solved many problems together..
You were a very lucky couple..
you have had very good life journey together.. you have had a lot of good memories, stories, experiences together.. thanks to God..We will miss him, and always remember him..
he will live with us untill we die..We loved him very much.. he was loved very very much by everyone..
in my belief, if a person is loved by the people, also God loves him or her, as well..I witness that he was the one of the best persons I have ever met in my life..
he was very noble, honest, fair, helpful, honourable, trustful man I have ever known..I belive in that May God will accept my witnessing, please..
I wish him a peaceful rest in his new life..
I hope, and wish, and pray that he will be a good witness for us in the Court of God, doomsday, too..
