Born May 17, 1939 in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Acores. Died October 9, 2022, in Victoria, BC, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was 83 years old.
In Sao Miguel he was employed as an iron fabricator at a very young age of 13 years old. Immigrated to Victoria in 1966 where he continued his trade at Victoria Foundries forming and fabricating the existing, beautiful downtown Victoria lamp posts and manhole covers.
He leaves behind not only a loving wife and three boys, two grandsons, one granddaughter and four great grandchildren, but also a legacy of a true gentleman.
He was an ever present and simple father figure and family man. Taught us more with his example than his words. His endurance through his illness was to the very bitter end. His body failed him but his heart and spirit lives on.
Special thanks to the staff at Luther Court and also to Dr. Gilbert Chew who attended to him at all hours.
The Memorial Service will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 2060 Haultain Street, Victoria, BC, Friday, October 21, 2022, at 12:10 pm.
