This past Sunday Joan was called to join her loved ones in heaven. She was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Frederick and Ann Stearn (nee Scott). She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother and nanny.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Art; brother, Sid; sister, Evelyn; twin sister, Joyce as well as her two oldest sons, Bill and Don.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Kathy (Joseph) and Linda (George); son, John (Anna); 11 grandchildren – Chris, Jen, Marc, Alicia, Jordan, Brianne, Mitchell, Derek, Colin, Tyler and Ryan and 9 great grandchildren – Lily, Jordan, Caitlyn, Ruby, Eliza, Sullivan, Elliott, Eloise and Hosea. Joan will also be missed by many relatives and friends.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. E Grant, Dr. M Vaughan, Dr. M Manville and all the “care-angels” from 2Maple, Camus and Tulip houses for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Esquimalt Neighborhood House.

Mary B Nanny, Papa Nanny, – you welcomed me into your home in 1980. Too many memories to share but I will always have a place in my heart for you. My children were so fortunate to have you as their Nanny and I was blessed to have you as my mother in law. When we lose someone we love, we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind. Heaven has received a most beautiful angel.

Wendy (Waslenchuk) Swan I have 48 years of wonderful memories with Mrs Broughton (first), then Mrs B (middle), then Joan (later), then Nanny (latest). From being yelled at for eating the carrots out of the garden while playing wiggle and kick the can in the cul de sac, to being invited to stay for family dinner, to having her play with my toddlers and then seeing them have tea together when they were older… so many happy interactions to remember! She raised a wonderful family and was always so proud of everyone in her life. What a legacy of love she leaves behind! Our family will always cherish our times with her, and smile as we look at the knitted garments that we received from her over the years and her dining room hutch that now anchors our house.
I know she will Rest In Peace and be happy to see her loved ones already in heaven. ❤️
