Dean passed away peacefully on September 12th, surrounded by his children, grandchildren and siblings. He fought hard against cancer showing a massive amount of perseverance, determination and faith. He continued to be grateful and make the most of each day while never complaining about his pain and discomfort.

Dean was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on July 6, 1962 to parents Dell and James (Jim) King. He was the youngest of 7 children and moved to Victoria, B.C. when he was a baby. He attended Lake Hill Elementary and Reynolds School before starting a lifelong career in carpentry. He was a talented and creative carpenter and artist and passed along those passions and skills to his children. He lived life on his own terms and always stayed true to who he was. He would give you the shirt off his back and always hugged you tight.

Dean loved unconditionally and was a very proud Dad to Amanda (Mike), James (Kelsey), Jillian (Jordan), Allexys (Dan), and Naythan (Rosie); and loving Papa to Mason, Charlie, Henry, Rosie, Ruth, Elijah, Lincoln and Olivia.

What we will remember above all else is his immeasurable strength, cheeky wink and smile, his encouragement and support, unconditional love, ability to make friends wherever he went, his love of travelling to Hawaii and exploring Vancouver Island’s back roads, fishing and camping trips, how he always tried to see the good in others and how he would always try to cheer you up.

Heartfelt thanks to Nurse Practitioner Jill at the BC Cancer Agency as well as all the wonderful staff on 8S at the Jubilee Hospital especially Nurses Chelsea and Danielle.

A Memorial will be held on Saturday November 12th at Glad Tidings Church/Coastline Church at 845 Caledonia Ave, Victoria, B.C., at 1:00 pm, with refreshments to follow.

We were privileged have known Dean for many years, but more so recently, he helped James put an addition on our mobile home, he used to show up and just help out wherever he could. It was him that helped James figure out our roof line which we love! He also did our door casings and put up cupboard doors for us. He was an amazing carpenter! So we have a lot of Dean in our house.
Our deepest condolences to the whole family for such a great loss.
Sadly We are unable to make it to the memorial, our thoughts and prayers our with you all
