Immediately:
- Contact close family members
- Contact Doctor
- Contact funeral home
1-3 Days:
- Locate Will
- Carry out funeral, burial or cremation arrangements at our Saanich location, 4665 Falaise Drive
- Contact Clergy or Celebrant
- Contact other family, friends or co-workers
3-7 Days:
- Make an appointment with our After Care Specialist who will provide valuable information and a checklist that can be used for estate purposes
- Receive Death Certificate (and sufficient copies) from funeral home
- Contact lawyer, trust officer, or other legal advisor
- Apply for a will search (Vital Statistics) if necessary
1-4 Weeks:
- Probate will
- Locate bank accounts and Investments
- Check safety deposit box
- Apply for death/survivor benefits (CPP/OAP)
- Cancel BC medical card
- Cancel driver’s license
