On Saturday, June 4, 2022, our beloved Ann died peacefully in Victoria at age 94 with her family at her side. Born on August 19, 1927, in Birmingham, England, Ann grew up in coastal Cornwall, where she loved sailing and racing her dinghies. She also rode and showed ponies from a young age.
Surviving the hardships of the Second World War left its mark, and Ann was a life-long devotee of thrift, gardening, and her local community. She attended Agricultural College in England to study dairy science and worked for a few years on dairy farms in the Cotswolds.
In 1950, Ann married Peter, the love of her life. They soon after started a family and emigrated to Canada in 1953, moving from pastoral Cornwall to the harsh prairies of Alberta.
Over several decades, Ann and Peter moved from their first parish in Stettler to others in Alberta and B.C. with their two daughters, Nicola and Diana. Ann particularly loved her time on Salt Spring Island, where the family spent their summer holidays for many years. She enjoyed living within the strong community at The Orchard for the past 25 years.
Ann always worked hard modestly behind the scenes to help others, earning the reputation as Saint Ann among family and friends. “Grannie Annie” will be fondly remembered for her kindness and generosity by her grandchildren, Ben, Anna, Emma and Molly, and by her great grandchildren, Marina, Emily, Josie, Lexi, Veit and Romeo.
We miss her.

Jayne Postuk Ann’s beautiful presence across the church from me every Sunday was almost part of the liturgy! I will really miss her.
Losing our mothers is very hard – no matter how old they, or we, are. I won’t be able to be at the service this afternoon but have included her and your families in my daily prayers since June.

Lillian Bailey. It was sad to hear of Anne’s passing. I knew Anne ever since she and Peter came to St. George’s and Peter was our Rector. I will miss her kind and gentle ways and her presence in many activities.

Margaret Martin I’ve lost count of the number of BORING SATURDAYS Ann and I had tea together. For some reason, we found Saturdays tedious. I will really miss her. She was the epitome of kindness and gentleness. The Orchard won’t be the same without her.

Joan Lawrence My son Brad Arnold and I want to send our loving thoughts of Ann on to her family.
We too were transplanted Albertans, and Ann and Peter knew Brad for his riding ability and love of horses.
We connected at St. George’s church, and would share our admiration of magnificent horses competing, watching all the Spruce Meadows Classics at Ann’s. We enjoyed evening tea and crumble, for years , while visiting with Ann and Daphne, a mutual animal lover from The Orchard. During the first two years of Coved Ann could be counted on to call, and check in with her cottage group, from St. George’s.Her quiet but profound ways touched so many souls.

Barbara Brown I am so happy I got tea and chats with Ann over the last couple of years in the Orchard. She was so gracious to my mom, Ruth, and to me and I will forever remember her humor, her generosity, and gentleness. Sending much love and wishing I could be present at the service.

It is with fondness that Alan & I remember both Ann and Peter.
We lived next door to Ann and Peter for many years and fondly remember Peter coming over to chat.
I loved them embracing our family as if was theirs.
Ann was always so supportive of our life.
Peter was a gem.
When he roamed the room singing “You are the salt of the earth oh people” we rejoiced in his voice resonating with the congregation.
