It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vinh Dieu Yang on March 23, 2022 at the age of 46.

Vinh immigrated to Canada with his family at a young age and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. He attended the University of Victoria and was the recipient of the Governor General’s medal, given only to the top 3% of all engineering graduates in British Columbia. Shortly after graduation, Vinh moved to Toronto, Ontario where he had a very successful career as an IT professional.

Vinh enjoyed a very active lifestyle and was extremely athletic. He climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, did Cross Fit, ran countless marathons, participated in running clubs, and was a passionate Ultimate player. He was also an avid traveler and enjoyed experiencing new foods and cultures.

Vinh strongly believed in people and giving back to the community. He participated in mission trips with Habitat for Humanity, and started “Hash Run” at his local Church to encourage exercise and healthy eating. He amassed a large network of friends who were like family and became “Uncle Vinh” to many of their children.

Vinh will be remembered for his leadership, craftsmanship, and immense wisdom. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family – especially by his mother Dat Mui Vong, father Evan Yang, step-mother Shirley Chunk, older brother Cory Yang, and younger half brother Charles Yang.

A private service was held. Donations may be made in memory of Vinh to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dear family and friends of Vinh,

I am so sorry for your loss. My heart aches for you. My husband and I used to run with Vinh in Toronto as part of the Toronto Christian Runners. Vinh was such an ambitious guy, physically pursuing many goals and always doing so with humour and humility! I loved seeing how strongly he valued community and how he did so much to unite people and work as a team. Although it was a short season that we knew Vinh, he will be truly missed. May the God of all peace comfort you.
