Jean has gone to her happy place by the lake with her husband Bill and a dog.
Known variously by her many friends and family as Jean, Jean Anne, Jeanie, Ginger, Mom, Gramma and GG Jean she was pre-deceased by her husband of almost 70 years, Dr. William S. (Bill) Cave and sister Sheila Peebles. She is survived by her big sister Betty Weddell and little sister Aileen Headen (Bill); her children Bill (Jan), Catherine (Manny), Allister (Karen) and Douglas (Nim); and many grand and great-grandchildren.
Raised in Kelowna Jean trained as an RN at VGH where she met her husband, Bill. They eventually moved to Kelowna and in later years, Vancouver, Parksville and Victoria. While in Vancouver she volunteered at the UBC Museum of Anthropology, then at Milner Gardens in Qualicum Beach and later, in Victoria at the Royal BC Museum and Archives. She had a passion for her family and for flowers and gardening, achieving distinction in later years as a Master Gardener.
Jean was an amazing lady. As her time approached, she received many expressions of love and remembrance from her family and friends recalling a lifetime of memories, loving advice and teaching and huge, warm enveloping hugs! She was much loved and will be dearly missed.

Louise Rutherford I am so very sorry to hear of Jean’s passing. I was just talking to her last month, and she seemed well and upbeat. As cousins we were not close, neither in proximity or in age, however when ever we crossed paths we always had lots to chat about and could chat for hours. And when Jean and Bill were living in Hampton Place at UBC, we used to run into one another often. The first time I ran into her walking her dog – my first thought was – that is my Aunt Elsie! Thinking of you all at this most difficult time.

Jean Duncan I am so saddened at the passing of your dear mum, and extend to each one of you my most heartfelt sympathy. Jean Anne and I graduated from nurses training at VGH in 1951. Warm memories of those wonderful years of learning and friendship.

Gerry Houlden Shocked and saddened in reading of your Mom’s passing. We became friends at the “y” while doing
Seniors’ Fitness classes. And surprisingly we ended up at Carlton House. We enjoyed many breakfasts
together before my wife, Junine, and I decided to go back to condo living. We had lots to talk about
as I had lived in the Okanaghan in the 1950′ selling petroleum products for Chevron Canada.
Hey….those were the days when you took a ferry from Westbank to Kelowna!!
If there is anything nice about her passing it is that she will be with your Dad so soon

We will miss her
Bill and Jean were good friends of my parents, Barbara and Lionel McLeod, both deceased. Jean was such a good friend to my mom, even when Barb had dementia, Jean would write her lovely letters!
I saw Bill’s name in the CMA obituaries, and logged in to send condolences to Jean, but was shocked to find she has recently died as well.
So I’m sending my deepest sympathies to their family, on losing two such fine people so close together.
