Lois died peacefully after a short but courageous battle with cancer on November 30, 2021. Born and schooled in Saskatchewan, married Merrill Lacheur in 1953 and spent many wonderful years in Saskatchewan before moving to Victoria, BC in 1973. Predeceased by Merrill and infant daughter, Linda; Lois is survived by husband, Derek Whittle and children, Debra, Lana (Gregg), Dean (Diana) and Neil (Tamina) as well as her beloved grandchildren, Cheryl, Gillian, Blake (Bailey), McKenna, Thomas and Renee. She will be missed by many other relatives and dear friends.

Blessed by a selfless character, Lois always put the interests of others ahead of herself, right to the very end. Her family was the most important thing to her and she devoted her life to ensuring her children and husband(s) had her endless support to enable their own success and happiness. Lois loved the performing arts and enjoyed many wonderful evenings at the Belfry and Langham Theatres as well as performances by the Victoria Symphony Orchestra. Lois was also a committed volunteer for both the Oak Bay United Church as well as the Royal Jubilee Hospital Foundation. Immense gratitude is extended to the wonderful caregivers at the Royal Jubilee as well as Dr. Russell Grimwood.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Lois would appreciate any donations to be directed towards the hospital foundation or the performing arts or a charity of your choice.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Big hugs to everyone.

To Debbie, Dean, Lana, and Neil,
Condolences to you and your families. I have fond memories of Lois and Merrill over many years at family gatherings. I did not realize she was that old! Kudos to Brenda for all of her support to the family, too! Lois was wise, kind, down to earth and capable! I am thinking of you all at this sad time! I know you and all who knew her have fond memories! She always seemed positive and happy!
    Best wishes!
    Linda

We consider Lois a good friend, even though our lives go back many a year. Our recent connections with her have been on the streets of Oak Bay, and once with Lana and Gregg at the Oaks . When I saw Lois most recently she told me her age and I marvelled at how well she looked! We always ended our conversation with a chuckle :
Thanks to all your family for taking good care of “Mom”.
