It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy on Friday, November 26, 2021. John Leroy “Roy” Mallard was loved by many for his kindness and sense of humour. Roy was predeceased by his wife Helen “Shirley” Mallard and parents Clarice and Stanley Mallard, his brother Martin and sister Grace.
Roy is survived by his son Allan (Tracy) and grandchildren Kenzie, Ashton, Ashley, and Michael, his daughter Dawn (Michael) and grandchildren Leah and Jenna, and brother Cliff (Helen). Roy loved the outdoors, coaching basketball, golfing, and cheering for the Roughriders. Roy was a dedicated Sasktel employee for almost 37 years. After retirement, they moved to BC before Roy settled in Sidney.
Roy was an amazing husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend to many. He could often be heard saying “Wherever you go, there you are”. The family would like to thank the staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital Extended Care 2 for their exceptional care and kindness. The “Duck” spent a great deal of time with our family up in Buffalo Narrows.
I remember he joined us for a winter camping trip going to Uranium City, and the summer before I finished high school he joined us for a canoe trip from the Cowan dam to Buffalo Narrows.

Wilma Gauthier It was wonderful to see Mr Mallard at our 50 year reunion of our graduation. We were not a large school and our gym was only 3 years old when he coached the girls team to the provincial championship. I couldn’t estimate the hours he dedicated to that effort. May you be comforted in the memories of his goodness.
