Robert passed away peacefully on October 8, 2021. Robert was the eldest son of Robert and Anne (Bradshaw). Travis was born on Stanley Ave., Victoria BC. He attended Boys Central and then when the family moved attended Monterey school, University school, and Oak Bay High school. He excelled in sports, rugby, soccer, track and tennis. Also with his academics, this earned him the first recipient of the Citizens Award in memory of Atkins at Oak Bay High School. He enjoyed labour and carpentry jobs during his high school summer years. He was a scout in St. Mary’s Troop and received a bravery metal with two other scouts for saving two men from drowning off Knapp, Piers Island from Governor-General Tweedsmuir. He joined the R.C.A.F the day after he graduated from grade 13 in Chilliwack and became a flight officer in Europe then trained troops in Gander N.L. After the war, he pursued his education BA, B.Ed, C.P.H., M.R.H.S. He took one year of training for teaching at Normal School then started teaching at Grand Forks, Duncan, in Victoria at S. J. Willis, Reynolds, Cedar Hill, Central, Oak Bay and Arbutus schools.
During his teaching summer months, he built homes, building a family home for his parents and his family. He then decided to retire early from teaching and pursued his love for building and real estate. In addition to being a teacher, builder and business person he carried on enjoying sports of tennis, water and snow skiing & badminton. Every summer the family enjoyed
Shawnigan Lake at the cabin home he built. He is survived by his sons Chris (Nerissa), Marshall (Jane), grandsons Robert and Brayden, granddaughters Chelsea and Madeline, many loved cousins and close friends.
A service will be held at St. Michaels University School on October 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the school’s chapel.

I read with sadness the notice of your dad’s death. I have fond memories of our quiet talks together, the 3 of us, at the Club, and know how devoted you were to your Dad’s bidding and advice. He was a sage old conservative guy , ( in my association with him ), and always pleasantly measured in his demeanor. Everything about him suggested a hard-working and honest man who you knew would play it straight with you in any transactions. We need more like him. You seemed always attentive to his knowledge and experience and I hope your time as his protege is showing its rewards.
