Helen passed away peacefully at home with family by her side. She grew up in Royal Oak. Youngest of three siblings who all competed regionally in Highland Dancing with many awards. In her youth she attended Royal Oak School where in class she met her future husband, Eric.
Helen and Eric were married, September 10, 1951. Little did she know she also married the family business. They worked hard together with Helen focusing on administration but was called upon for all kinds of tasks from housekeeping in the motel to greeting guests. She took great pleasure and relief in creating floral arrangements which were always on display.
Helen was devoted to her family with love, support and enthusiasm. She was a faithful member of Centennial United Church from youth and contributed to young people as a leader in the Sunday School and other adult groups.
Survived by son Wallace (Doris), daughter Sharon (Tito), Grandchildren Aaron (Sasheen), Benjamin, Kimberly (Jason), Deanna (Jordan), Jacqui (Tyler), Great Grandchildren, Hudson, Charlotte, Bennett, Nora, Stella, Gracia and Georgia.
Helen and the family have greatly appreciated the loving care, compassion and friendship of the staff from; Bayshore Home Support, Island Health Home Support and Victoria Hospice.
In lieu of flowers donations are appreciated to; Victoria Hospice, Salvation Army and Centennial United Church Mission and Service Fund.

My Mom (Ivy) had a strong friendship with Helen also, as they taught Sunday School at the same time. Mardee Nickerson Wallace, Sharon and Families. I have fond memories of your Mom…always cheery and always eager to chat with Mom and me. Oh, the memories I have of the restaurant (and motel) when I was little. Mom often arranged for a visit to the restaurant when I flew “home” for visits from NS; always good to chat with your folks and get caught up on family news, locate family in the photo gallery, and to admire floral arrangements! As a family we SO appreciated your Mom, and uncle, attending Mom’s gravesite service five years ago. I wish I were closer to honour your Mom in the same way and give you a hug. Your Mom was a gem! théa nation To Wallace , Sharon and families. I lived 2 doors south of what will forever be known to me as McMorran’s! For 15 years and for many of those days I would see Helen in some capacity or other at the restaurant. I raised my son Johannes on the beach. At the age of 5 Eric and Helen gave him his first job – sweeping the entrance way and holding the door open for patrons. His payment was a coke float! Her floral arrangements were legendary and her presence around the restaurant strongly felt despite her diminutive stature! Her death signals the end of an era. May she Rest In Peace. Théa and Johannes with gratitude.
