Diane passed away in the early hours of June 7th, 2021, after a long illness. She joins her husband Jack (Hutch) Hutchinson who predeceased her 40 years before. Born April 11, 1933 in Vancouver BC, to Doris and Morris Nott, Diane spent most of her younger years living with her family (and in loving rivalry with her older sister and confidant Beverley) in Smithers and New Westminster, BC. She met her dashing Hutch on the ski slopes and married soon after. 
The couple moved to Victoria BC in 1960 which remained their home, although Diane often traveled back to the mainland and up island to visit her mother, sister and extended family. Diane was an important ‘behind the scenes’ supporter of ‘Hutch’s Kitchen Carousel’ (Hutch’s kitchen renovation business) and always made sure everything was looked after as Hutch laid on the fun, food, music and games at house and backyard parties. Diane was a fabulous cook; no one has been able to rival her lemon sponge or pineapple cream pies.
After Hutch passed, Diane spent time travelling both alone and with her long-time companion Ken Porter, working part-time at Sears, knitting or crocheting (many of us still have the blankets Nana/Mom made us!), volunteering at track events and the Gorge Road Hospital, doing crossword puzzles, watching Monday night football, and listening to talk show radio.
Diane leaves behind her sister Bev (91 this June); children Sue, Scott and Steve and their partners; 7 grandchildren (Nicole, Kristen, Devin, Lauren, Shaun, Jack and Cole); and 6 great grandchildren (Riley, Tao, Talyn, Scarlett, Mason and Violet).
Remembering, with great fondness, big backyard pool and deck parties, rousing (music and food-filled!) house gatherings, always wonderful meals, and countless summers at Sprout Lake, Diane (along with Hutch) cultivated in us all a love of cards and games, soulful music, dancing, camping, family dinners, and good food and drink. We hope Diane and Hutch are reunited now, watching over us and enjoying a rye and coke! We love you Mom/Nana. The family will hold a celebration of Diane’s life when we can gather, hug and share memories of our life with Diane.

Sharon Lee Kimmel I had the honor and the privilege of spending time with Diane… such a kind, loving, and sensitive woman!
We listened and swayed to music especially Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, enjoyed desserts, keeping up with the Royal family, and nature walks!
Thank you Scott for introducing me to Boots Randolph and spanish music! Thank you Susan for all the good recipes, and crafts you supplied for us to create! Thank you Steve for suggesting paint nite, and the novels by Clive Cussler!

My first memory of both Diane and Hutch was at their family home off of Shelbourne Street in Victoria, BC the year -?- probably 1973 or 74. Diane was lounging in the backyard watching over brood– Susan, Scott and Steve swimming in the pool. I spent my time talking with Dad about his homemade pool heater that kept that pool really warm going into the details of the roof top heater and solenoids and switches that timed the water flow and sensed the temperature.
All the while Diane asking me if she could get me a pop or water -anything Terry.
In later years she moved to the Gorge waterway where she had an amazing view across the Gorge to west Victoria, I always enjoyed the balcony view there.
Then there was the favorite restaurants a few that always were enjoyed with extended family and friends.
