Marjorie died April 29, 2021 in Qualicum Beach. She was born December 3, 1927 in North Vancouver.
Predeceased by her husband of 33 years, John Wilson, in December 2020, her parents James and Alice Whyte, of North Vancouver, first husband Dennis Carter, sister Barb Selby (Art), brothers Dick (Pal) and Allister. Marjorie is survived by her children, Mike (Sheila) and Elaine (Jim), grandchildren Laurie-Ann (Travis), Carter, Andrew, Amy, and several nieces and nephews, as well as sister-in-law Betty.
Marjorie was born in North Vancouver, and graduated from North Vancouver High School. She took her great secretarial skills to work at the Vancouver Sun in the “hatches, matches, and dispatches” department. In 1950, she went on a grand adventure, sailing to New Zealand, where she worked for Twentieth Century Fox, and New Zealand National Airways Corp. She returned to North Vancouver in 1953 to marry Dennis Carter, and start a family.
In 1965, the family moved to Vancouver Island. She started her career as a Medical Office Assistant in Sidney, and also worked in Victoria, where she retired.
Marjorie was a keen gardener, a great baker, and a beautiful knitter. She was able to travel to England, Spain, and Ontario, but stayed close to Victoria in her later years.
