It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, John Edward Fleck on February 18, 2021 at the age of 52.

John grew up playing street hockey in front of the house, an aspiring Darryl Sittler.  He attended St. Joseph’s, Colquitz and Spectrum schools where he formed lasting friendships; the house was always full of friends.

He was a skilled and enthusiastic driver from an early age, and a valued truck driver, co-worker and mechanic.  In his spare time, John could be found riding his motorbike, fishing, restoring vehicles, and in recent years rock crawling.  He loved animals and took comfort in raising fish and birds.

If you were to ask John what his greatest accomplishment was, he would, without a doubt, say his son, Anthany, of whom he was so proud.  They were two peas in a pod and we will continue to see John live on through Anthany.

John was easy going and made friends easily; he had a sensitive, loving and kind heart and a great sense of humour with jokes usually followed by a sly grin.  Even though he is gone far too soon, we are all very thankful for the time we had with him.  He will remain forever in our hearts.

COVID restrictions necessitate only a small family service; however, a Celebration of Life will be held for all of John’s extended family and friends once restrictions ease.  If you would like to be informed of details, please send an email to margaret.farlowe@gmail.com.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I was saddened to hear the news. I have very fond memories playing hockey with John and others at St Joseph’s School in the parking lot during recess and lunch hours. He was a good player who was tenacious at Defence. You could not get the ball past him.

    Please accept my condolences.

We always enjoyed John’s company and growing up I always thought of John as the “coolest” older cousin. He was easy to talk with and always seemed to have a special interest going on being his vehicles, motorcycle, pets, outdoor activities etc. We still have his goldfish in our pond. Condolences to the entire family, and thinking of everyone.
