Ann died peacefully in Victoria BC on January 22, 2021. She was born in South Wales to Ivor and Doris and immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1973 with her former husband Ken Read and three daughters. Ann moved to British Columbia in 2014 and enjoyed being by the seaside in beautiful Oak Bay in her new home. Ann will be mourned by her friends and family in BC and Ontario, including her daughters Michelle and family, Vanessa and Heather and partner Jonny; Ann’s stepchildren Tim, Heather, John and Maureen, their families and Ann’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren including Belinda, Jeff, Tucker and Tegyn, Brock, Kolten and Blake. She is also sent much love from her family and friends in the UK including her sister Julia, Jim, Eryl and Angharad.
Ann greatly enjoyed taking up new challenges, socializing with friends, music and dancing, and was an award-winning gardener. She was always a fun and youthful spirit and spent many winters in later life in Mexico with her friends in Puerto Vallarta, even spent time there touring with a reggae band. Always one to try new things, she took up the ukulele at age 75. She is remembered for her beautiful smile, her determination and fantastic sense of humour, and is sent love and peaceful blessings by the care staff at the Summit and former Oak Bay Lodge, by her many friends in Wales and Ontario, the Oak Bay Seniors Club & the Victoria Folk Society. Ann was predeceased by her partner John who will be eagerly waiting to greet her on the other side.
A private service will be planned for later in the spring.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.
