It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Gil was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Maria. He will be remembered by daughter Liduina (Fritz); son Frank (Barb); grandchildren Nelson (Emily), Kristie (Nav), Anthony (Paige) and great-grandchildren Finn, Xyla, Avaeh, Mckinley and Jon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews here in Victoria, Toronto and the USA, as well as John Tavares, who he thought of as a second son.
Gil and Maria volunteered for many years at the Portuguese Church where he made many lifelong friends. Gardening was dad’s passion and he spent many happy hours in his garden.
We love you dad!
We would like to thank the caring nurses at Victoria General 7A, as well as Dr. Mawdsley for his exceptional care.
A private service will be held with a celebration of life to take place in the near future. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
