On Dec 5th, 2020 Angela passed away at the age of 74 in Victoria, BC, with her two daughters Kelly and Erin present. Angela was born August 2, 1946 in Montreal, Quebec. She was a baby boomer conceived the year WWII ended, after her father John Stanley Stadnyk returned from England where he’d been serving as an orderly in the army. In Winnipeg, John met Marilyn Mildred Korotash. Mary’s family was based in Rosa, Manitoba, having emigrated from Galicia (Eastern Europe). John and Mary were of Ukrainian descent and had four children together; Angela, Leilani, John (Richard) and Constance, who after their parents’ divorce went by the last name Stadwick. Angela graduated high school in Winnipeg, MB and got her first job at Great West Life Insurance, where she met her soon to be husband Dominic Leo Conlin. Dominic and Angela moved west to Vancouver, BC where they had three children: Sean, Erin and Kelly.
Angela raised her three kids as a single parent on a farm in Sardis, BC and spent her working life as a receptionist. Highly creative, Angela enjoyed many hobbies including ballroom dancing, garden design, aerobics, singing and working as a makeup artist in the Chilliwack Players Guild. She sang as a soprano in many choirs throughout her years including the Billy Graham choir, the Vancouver Singing Christmas Tree and the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra & Chorus. Angela retired early and spent the last 6 years of her life living in a cottage in Sooke, BC near her daughter Kelly.
Y. Angela M. Conlin, as she signed her name was a believer in God and spent much of her life in worship. She was a passionate woman and an individual in every sense of the word. She will be remembered for her uniqueness, strong spirit, great sense of humour and her dimples. She loved her animals, gardening, fashion, re-watching movies as if for the first time and enjoying nature. She leaves behind her beloved cat Shiraz, her children, her granddaughter Charlotte, and sister Leilani. On December 11th,2020 Angela was given a green burial at Royal Oak Burial Park. Above where she lies, a garden will be planted that will eventually grow into a forest.
