Born December 31,1939 in Seaham Harbour, UK, the youngest of 7. Greta immigrated to Canada in 1968, where she continued her career in retail until the birth of her children, at which time she became a full-time mom, returning to retail when circumstances demanded. She was a great mother, very involved in her children’s lives. She took pride in all their athletic endeavours, among other things. Her support and involvement in the local youth sports programmes extended beyond her kids’ tenure at both National Little League and the Victoria soccer community. Much as she loved her kids, however, nothing could compare with the way she felt about her grandchildren. She truly came to life upon meeting each of them and they were such a source of delight and vitality in the short time she had with them.
Greta passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, after a lengthy and valiant battle with cancer. Survived by her children Claire (Lawrence), Neil (Sonia), and her beloved grandchildren, Gustavo and Caliana.
No service by request. Donations can be made in Greta‘s name to the MS Society of Canada, a charity close to her heart https://mssociety.ca/

Don moore I am saddened to hear of dear Greta’s passing. She was an amazing volunteer at National Little League, even becoming an umpire later in life. Greta was a terrific mother who adored Neil and Claire. I remember that Greta always spoke her mind, and could sometimes be brash, but I loved that about her. My heartfelt condolences to Neil, Claire and families.

Daryl Edelman Such a special lady who touched my life and heart. After spending time with her and her and her family in the late seventies, we became lifelong friends and penpalls. She was more than an auntie she was my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with her children and their families.

So sorry for your loss. Greta was quite a character. We shared a lot of laughs. Sometimes a gruff exterior, but a good heart and a great sense of humour. The last time that we met was for coffee at Hillside Mall. We had a good catch-up and a few laughs. I’m glad I have that last memory of your mom.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.
