Sadly Liz passed away due to complications from a stroke, she was well taken care of by the staff at VGH while she rested.

Liz was born and raised in Victoria B.C. She attended Catholic School in Vancouver for middle school and graduated from Victoria High in 1967. Liz moved to the Cowichan Valley in her late teens where she remained until her death.

Liz’s proudest achievement (if you asked her) was raising 6 kids in a blended family. She taught them the value of hard work, how to dance, cook, to love music and most of all how to be independent.

Once the kids were grown and independent, helping other people became her focus. Liz worked for VITALS for nearly 20 years where she met and cherished many clients and co-workers. Liz was always planning a birthday party or shopping for gifts for her clients. She loved them all and treated them like her own.

We are pretty sure Liz spent most of her days either decorating for Christmas or wrapping presents and collecting food for people less fortunate at Christmas. Liz’s passion didn’t stop there, she loved to collect. Oh boy she loved to collect, she has every “Hudson Bay bear” and snowman ever produced, she has a pretty good start on a fake Christmas tree farm as well!

Liz liked to spend her downtime in her garden. She would often be honked at or be waving at people as she was out watering. She truly loved every flower and actually would stop and smell them, perhaps something we should all try.

Liz is survived by her children; Lisa Leverington ( Neil), Rhonda Leverington, Michael Pastula (Kristen), Christina Pastula ( Clayton), Tony Pastula ( Saira) Melissa “Moo” Cottam ( Clarky) and her grandchildren; Ava, Griffin, Shai ( Sam), Clare, Sophie, Emm, Lucas and Riggs( grandpup); her beloved sister Muriel Fortin and her children Christa, Billy  and Jeremy. Also, her sisters from another mister, Rose Monkman and Sandy Kiser and their children who she also loved like her own.

Liz had too many friends and “adopted” children to mention, to know her was to love her. Her love of bright colours and to dance to the beat of her own drum made her one of a kind. She will be greatly missed by many

There will be a small family service held at Ross Bay Cemetery, where she will be put to rest with her family that predeceased her. We are planning a large celebration of life in the spring once it’s Covid safe.

Please email weloveliz49@gmail.com if you would like to be sent the details once we have them. You may also send any pictures, messages and condolences for the family to the same email.

In lieu of flowers please help out a less fortunate family at Christmas.

May you be ” Forever in blue jeans babe”

Rest easy Momma
