Irene Wyndlow Condolences from our family to yours.
I can only remember happy times with Marge. We were friends since Grade 1 in Richmond. She and I had a wonderful trip to Europe in the late 1950s, hitchhiking here and there. We were once heading somewhere in Switzerland and I was wearing a skirt that day and she was wearing pants. A washing-machine salesperson or repairman stopped to offer us a lift. There was only room for one of us in the cab, so Marge took the spot in the back on top of a washing machine! We used to joke that she was the only gal in the world who had crossed the Alps on a washing machine! Marge was also one of my bridesmaids and we remained friends throughout the years, always exchanging birthday and Christmas cards and our news, and enjoyed visits between times. I will miss her and her stories of her family and her beloved dogs, and her friendship. With love from Irene Wyndlow and family (nee Wright).

Doreen Ball Marge was an amazing person in many ways. She was an extremely good secretary — fast accurate typing, spelling, grammar, she was an ace at all of these. She kept all of the teachers and administrators on their toes, especially the ones who weren’t good at getting forms in on time! She managed her post with stoic resilience on many occasions when pandemonium was breaking out around her and was good at biting her tongue when observing the foibles of some of the eccentric staff members. She was inherently curious and kept abreast of current affairs both in the school and in the world. She loved puzzles, animals, and always marked special days of the year such as St. Patrick’s Day. Whenever I see an amaryllis in bloom I remember Marge. The last time Chuck and I visited with Marge at Otter Bay, we shared McRoberts and travel stories. She sent us home with a freshly baked banana loaf. We will miss receiving her Christmas card with news of her adventures from the previous year. She was a special friend.

Doug Dutkewich Very sorry to hear of Marge’s passing, she was an amazing and one of a kind individual. No one can compare to the super secretary of McRoberts, a true lover of all animals and an avid gardener, she will be deeply missed, one of my last remaining pen pals, may she rest in eternal peace and love.

Fred Harwood Marg was a wonderful administrator for our family at McRoberts! She was always a source of valuable information delivered with a smile. She kept the school humming. Her support was amazing. She will be greatly missed.
Today (International Women’s Day) would have been Marge’s 86th birthday. And while I’m not sure she ever would have labelled herself a feminist (in fact part of me thinks the idea would have horrified her!) I think in her own way she was one — blazing her own path of independence and determination to live life on her own terms. As a young woman she traipsed across Europe decades before that became popular or even acceptable. Later she cut a figure with her succession of flashy (to us) sports cars and pets. She cherished her independence and encouraged it in all of her nieces and grandnieces, revelling in their accomplishments, ever the proud aunt. She was smart, witty, acerbic, generous and very kind. She helped where ever and whomever she could and contributed in ways most people never even knew about. She never missed a birthday so on this day that would have been hers we miss her especially. On behalf of her family thanks to those who have taken the time to share their memories with us.
