It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Joan in her sleep in the home she loved, in the Blenkinsop Valley, less than two miles from where she was born. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon in 2017.
At a young age, she learned the value of hard work and a love of gardening and landscape design from her father, Ed Lohbrunner. Her life was full of adventures and many happy moments and some heartbreaks too. She will be missed by all who knew her and her legacy will live on through her and Gordon’s generosity and love of the natural world.
A gathering to honour her will be held at a later date.
Donations to the local SPCA or other animal rescue organization in Joan’s honour would be greatly appreciated.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Rick Lloyd We are so sorry to lose this lovely lady. It was always fun to visit and be offered “cookies”. She and Gordon were strong supporters of the valley and Saanich where Gordon was the chief surveyor.
Joan always had a great laugh and loved to chat about her investment policies.
We will certainly miss her and we are happy that their land is going to the Land Conservancy.
I had the opportunity to volunteer with The Land Conservancy of BC on some of the acreages donated by Mrs. Alston Stewart. What a beautiful legacy to leave behind. Thank you.
