On November 17th, 2019, Zac’s life ended suddenly at the young age of 26. Taken from us much too soon, Zac leaves his parents, Tim and Linda; sisters, Hayley, Sophie and Amy; nieces, Tayla and Kenzee; his Aunt and Uncle, Ally and Bob; grandfather, Ingemann; his cousins, Justin and Mathew; and partner, Samantha. Zac also had Aunts, Uncles and cousins in Ontario, and many friends on the island and Vancouver. We all knew and loved Zac in different ways, and he will always be in our hearts.
Zac was born in Victoria, BC on June 5, 1993. He was a playful and quirky kid. Growing up, he loved video games, board games, playing outside and hanging out with his three older sisters. During his early twenties, Zac spent time in Southern Ontario with extended family. He always appreciated a good meal, and food in general. Although Zac didn’t like to cook, he was surprisingly good at it. He had a good sense of style and especially loved his shoes and hats. Zac has always loved animals, from kittens to pit bulls. He had a heart of gold.
In 2018, Zac moved from Victoria to the mainland. In Vancouver, he started to build a sense of community and continued his career in construction. Zac had a strong work ethic and was well liked by his peers. He enjoyed reading science fiction, listening to rap and hip hop music, and was known to play a good game of scrabble.
He spent time babysitting his nieces, Kenzee and Tayla regularly. One of Kenzee’s favourite memories with uncle Zac was a bike ride from Langford to Thetis Lake. Every time they reached a hill, uncle Zac got off his bike to push her up. Playing hide and seek with uncle Zac was also a favourite activity they shared. Tayla’s favourite memory was uncle Zac stealing her mother’s car to go to Bulk Barn to buy $80 worth of candy and eating it all while watching movies. Kenzee and Tayla will forever miss their fun, loving uncle.
We will all miss Zac deeply, and words cannot express our hurt being here without him. Through all of the memories that we’ve shared with Zac, he will live on forever in our hearts.
