After an incredibly blessed 94 years, we sadly said goodbye on December 5, 2019. Shelagh passed away peacefully after a brief illness at her suite at Parkwood Court, in Victoria BC. She was proud to have been born in Winnipeg on June 2, 1925. To honor a rich life well lived, she leaves behind, 3 sons, 2 grandsons and 3 great-granchildren, extended family and many cherished friends.
She will be remembered for her cheerful and keen attitude, charming sense of fun and her kind and generous heart.
Shelagh had an active mind and curious spirit and made connections with everyone around her. She lived with dignity, strength and humour. She was forever young at heart with a feisty nature that will be greatly missed. She was appreciative of her life and of those that brought her strength and support, love and joy, smiles and laughter.
A heartfelt thanks to her neighbours in Wedgewood Estates and caregivers from Bayshore Home Care. With their assistance, she was able to remain independent in her home until December 2018. We are immensely grateful and indebted to the entire Team at Parkwood Court, Drs. Russell Grimwood and Ted Rosenberg, for their compassionate care and attention.
As to her wishes, she has been cremated, and will soon be reunited and laid to rest, after 18 years apart, with her beloved Alan, “The Big A”, at Royal Oak Burial Park. She has requested no formal Service.
As her life was greatly enriched and passionately filled with a love of all animals, those who are so inclined, please consider making a donation to an organization involved in the welfare of animals.

My darling Shelagh has been a blessing from God to me !. We bonded from the first time we met, many years ago.
Every Thursday we connected by telephone or e-mail. Shelagh loved animals and birds. She would always send me something funny through e-mail regarding her feathered and furry friends. We enjoyed so much fun & laughter ! It was very “life giving”
To me, the gift of friendship is of divine intervention . Now that Shelagh is gone back to the “Light,” yes , “the Spirit world of Love”, I feel her presence even more deeply. I thank God for the wonderful gift of Shelagh Aldous!

Jim Haskins I first met Shelagh, Alan and the “Boys” when they moved to Saskatoon in the 60’s and lived just down the street from us on Lake Crescent. We quickly became good friends and that has endured to this day.
I have many good memories of Shelagh from over those years and to Jim & Bonnie and theirs boys, Gerry & Paula and Grant & Sue we offer our condolences.

Much love and our thoughts going out to you both after Shelagh’s passing. The happy face in the photo with Belle showed her feisty and fun loving nature, just as you described her. What a long and fortunate life!
She was so lucky to have both of you taking care of her and making sure every aspect of her lifestyle was supported and well-managed. I did not know Shelagh, but I do know you both and can testify to the huge commitment and dedication you showed throughout, which has all our admiration. And we only glimpsed a small part of the daily effort you both made for many years. It is great that she had her final months in the home and was well taken care of there too. Again, your planning and foresight made all that possible… and in the end you sold the condo too.
So, in this time of sadness, I hope you both can also feel the relief of knowing that you did your very best and gave her a life of quality, dignity and care that she would not have enjoyed without your participation. This is an achievement that you will certainly feel good about always.
Dear friends, we wish you every good thing and most of all rest as you relax into a different way of being together in your life and home, without Shelagh, but with all the good memories and appreciation for her intact.

I must be feeling nostalgic because after several decades I found my Auntie Shelagh with an online search. Yes, Auntie! My parents, Janet and Gordon Marshall named Shelagh as my godmother more than 65 years ago and she was always Auntie Shelagh to me. I still treasure my memories of her energy and a handmade bracelet she gave to me. Her father collected the stones in the bracelet from the banks from a river in Egypt (?). I also recall some fun times at Minaki.
You must miss her dearly but as you said…an incredible 94 years. I appreciated reading your notice and loved the photo. My sincere condolences.
My mom passed away at 76 and my father passed away only a year before your mom in 2018. “She” and the Big A brought my parents together and they loved your parents dearly.
