Kewal was born in Bilga, Punjab, Kewal peacefully passed away after fighting a fierce battle with cancer. Kewal will be remembered as a hero to many of us. His journey to Canada began in 1969 and he continued to pave the path for many families from India to settle in Canada and start their new lives.
His generous gestures and heart of gold was what made him a charming man. Kewal’s passion was to work hard, laugh for the moment and spend time with his grandchildren. His laugh and smile lit up the room and left everlasting impressions in all those around him.
In his early days, he had a knack for sports cars and stylish vans, and he would enjoy taking his family all over Vancouver Island. He loved to work hard and built a solid reputation during his time at BC Forest Products and Victoria Plywood.
Kewal’s strong physique and determined mind stood out graciously, and he instilled those magnificent values to his children Mandeep (Brigitte) and Raman (Amar). He spent his life with his true love Sukhwant to the very end.
Kewal enjoyed taking care of his friends and family and would go to the moon and back for not only those he loved, but for complete strangers. Kewal’s legacy will continue to grow and echo in eternity through his grandchildren, Saachin, Sienna, Ariya, Rohen, Diya and Rajen. The grandchildren described their Baba-Ji as a cool hearted man who loved to laugh.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive at 10:00 am, followed by Prayer Service at Khalsa Diwan Society, 1210 Topaz Avenue, 12:00 pm.

Balkar Samra My cousin brother Kewal was and always will be bigger than life itself. He was an amazing man who loved to laugh hard work harder and party even harder still. Big brother Kewal always gave the best of himself to others whether family, friends or a stranger. Big brother you are loved and always will be loved. You are in my heart and always stay there. You gave so much to so many without thinking about getting anything in return. Thank you for all you did. You will never be forgotten. Balkar Samra.
I am deeply honoured, blessed and privileged to have known Veera since being in Canada. He was a man of great character, principles and family honour. He was a pillar of strength not just to his own immediate family and siblings but to all his extended cousins. He was the one we turned to and looked up to as he was our honourable “leader”. His presence and hearty laughter lit up any occasion wherever he went. You will be dearly missed. My heartfelt condolences to my dearest bhabijee, Mandeep, Bridget, Raman and Amar.
