Ted passed away suddenly at Royal Jubilee Hospital Victoria, BC on May 1, 2019 with his son and wife by his side. He was born in Edmonton to Edward Davis Teetzel and Helen Margaret Teetzel (nee Cameron) on May 2, 1943. Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his loving wife Sabine (nee Mont) and devoted son Ian.
He enjoyed a sibling-like relationship with his cousin Sandra (Brian) Cutt and was honourary uncle to Darrell and Amanda. He delighted in being a third grandfather to Amanda’s (Rick) 2 boys Matteo and Elio.
Ted grew up in southern Alberta, fishing, hunting and enjoying the outdoors with his Dad, curling in the winter and golfing with his Mom in the summer.
Ted followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Royal Bank. He started his banking career as a clerk in Pincher Creek, Alberta and retired in 1999 from Winnipeg as the District Manager – Risk Management, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwestern Ontario and Nunavut.
Ted married the love of his life, Sabine, in Edmonton on May 12, 1979. Ted was fiercely proud of his son, Ian Cameron Teetzel, who has followed his father’s footsteps into the banking world; all be it, at The Bank of Montreal.
Although he loved the open skies of the prairies, he longed for warmth. Upon retirement, Ted and Sabine moved to Victoria. He took up his passions of golfing and gardening with renewed vigour, spending time on the course and “putzing” around the yard. They both joined newcomers and began attending St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church where they developed many friendships in their new home town.
Throughout his life, Ted was known as an honest, fair and faithful man with a deep abiding love for his family. A true “marshmallow” around children and dogs. All dogs loved him and his were always especially loved.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 924 Douglas Street, on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2 pm.
Tributes, if desired, may be to either St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dave Williams I am saddened to hear of Ted’s “too soon” passing. Ted and I worked together on Inspection in the late 60’s early 70’s. He was well respected by everyone on the team and the Branch personnel also. My sympathy to the family. Written in green ink. May God Rest His Soul …. Dave and Wendy Williams

K.J.T. (Kundert) So sorry to hear that Ted had passed away. We used to share stories of growing up as bank kids and following our fathers’ career choices. Our paths rarely crossed in later years but when friends and family talk about the good times we had at Edmonton Main, Ted was frequently a part of the story. I remember when Sabine was working with my sister, she asked my opinion whether she should go out with Ted. “Yes” was the answer.

Andrea Dear Sabine and Ian,
We love you and are so sorry for Ted’s death.
Words fail in expressing how unfair this feels.
He was a wonderful man. I know we didn’t talk with him often, but it feels like a solid constant in the world is missing somehow.Love,
Andrea and Christian and Tobias and Owen

Alastair Urquhart I am very sorry to learn of Ted’s death. I have fond memories of playing golf at Cordova Bay with him.
He was a very nice man, polite, unassuming and had a
fine sense of humour. Those of us who knew him will
Miss him.

Brian Hay Ted and I worked/played together in Alberta many years ago. I ended up transferring out of the country and working in various other provinces, much like Ted, but our paths didn’t cross again.Unfortunately, even though we have both been living on the Island, we had never met up. He was a fine fellow.

Fr. Dean Henderson Dear Sabine,
We are so sorry for your loss. You have our deepest condolences, and know that you are in our prayers during this difficult time.
With warm and heartfelt sympathy,
Henri, Dean, and all the chaplains at Multifaith Services.
On and off over the years I have wondered where Ted was. I worked with him at RBC, imperial oil bldg. I also curled on his team and even beat him in a cribbage tournament!
Ted was always so much fun and I truly regret losing touch. He was a good man, a great boss and a wonderful friend. May he rest in peace.
Please accept my sincere condolences
