It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Carol Jean Callaghan (née Phillips) on February 22, 2019. She died peacefully in the hospital surrounded by her husband and daughters in Kelowna, BC at the age of 78.
Carol is survived by her husband, Ron; four daughters, Colleen, Karolyn (Wayne), Lisa (Dennis) and Rhonda (Chris); two brothers, Clayton and Rodney (Cindy); thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Helen; step-father, Richard Corner; father, Eugene Phillips; son-in-law, Bogdan Kajak and granddaughter, Nicole Mirabelli.
Carol was born on November 29, 1940 in Killarney, Manitoba. She moved to Victoria, BC with her family at a young age. She received top honours in Grade 8 at Quadra Elementary and then graduated from Vic High School in 1958. She married Ron Callaghan, a musician in the R.C.N. Band at H.M.C.S. Naden, in 1962 and together, lovingly raised their family.
Carol shared many happy memories with her family and friends. She has forever touched those around her with her larger than life personality, laughter, grand sense of fun, and love of the next game.
A heartfelt thanks to friends who have reached out in support and prayer.
A private funeral service was held for family only, as per request.
The family respectfully requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice be given on her behalf, in lieu of flowers.

Hi Ron,
Belated condolences from an old buddy in the RCN on the passing of your wife. If I had known you lived just a few miles down the road, I would have tried to get in touch.
