Gus passed away on October 19, 2018. He was born in Desfina, Greece on January 8, 1924. Predeceased by his wife, Evangelia in 2008 and his daughter, Helene Pappas in 2011. Konstantinos, or ‘Gus’, as he was known to many, is survived by his daughters Demetra and Georgia and grandchildren, Angela, Penelope, Evangelia, and Christina and his brother, Loukas.
Konstantinos lived life fully and well and was deeply committed to his family and friends. His strong sense of duty and belief in service extended to his community and country and for him there were two that he loved, Greece and Canada. As Deputy Mayor of his hometown in Greece, he undertook many initiatives to improve the quality of life for its citizens and after immigrating to Canada in 1954, he became increasingly involved in living a political life. His barbershop, Central Barbers, which changed locations a few times over the decades, will be remembered by many as a great meeting place where news was exchanged, and thoughts and ideas shared. Konstantinos will be remembered for his kind heart, his generous spirit, his love of learning and culture and his genuine enthusiasm for life.
A Funeral Service will be held at Ypapanti Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Royal Oak Burial Park with a reception to follow at 2:00 pm in the Fireside Grill, 2509 West Saanich Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ypapanti Greek Orthodox Church, 4648 Elk Lake Drive.

Steve and Tina Smith We’re so sorry to learn of Gus’ passing. Our family has many fond memories of this kind, caring and fun-loving gentleman. Gus and Evangelia were dear friends of my parents, Bill and Gwen Murray. Occasionally, Gus would bring out his fiddle and they would all burst out in song at a few house parties my parents had! Gus truly left his mark and indeed left a legacy of kindness, love and deep friendship with all who knew him. May he rest in peace. We’re sorry we won’t be in Victoria to attend Gus’ service. Our sincere sympathy to the family. Sincerely and with love, Tina and Steve Smith

Dag Waddell A true Rupert Personality. I remember getting haircuts at the Central Barbers as a kid in Rupert. Gus took the serious clientele, Frank had to entertain the kids, including me. Our Dad thought the world of Gus, his name came up often around our Dinner table, to Dad Gus was the absolute authority on matters of public policy and all things political. A life well lived. RIP

+Rev. Fr. George Tolias Beloved Brother in Christ Konstantinos,
It was a real blessing for both of us to meet for the first and last time herein on earth and share together the Heavenly Treasures that our Good Lord has left for us through His Holy Church. May you have a Blessed Welcome in Heaven by our Lord and may we meat again in God’s timing, when He calls me as well, in His Eternal Heavenly Kingdom.
May Georgia your daughter and all your loved ones and dear friends be comforted that you have done here in earth, all of what was necessary and now you have just passed from this temporary early life were you were a worthy Member of the Militant Church of Christ, to the Eternal Triumphant Church of our Lord were, according to St. Paul “No eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him” (1st Corinthians,2:9, 2nd Corinthians 12:4).
May your Memory be Eternal.
+Rev. Fr. George Tolias
To Helene and family. I just heard the sad news of your fathers passing.
I will always remember Gus and you Helene, when I worked in the Beauty Salon behind the barber shop in Prince Rupert. Those were good times and your father was always very happy at his job, and very proud of his family.
I think we all miss the good ole days. Please know that you are in our prayers at this sad time.
